Step-by-Step Field Container Safety & Labeling
- Color Coded Gas Cans: Keep 2-stroke pre-mix in clearly distinct red containers with yellow "50:1 MIXED FUEL" warning tags. Never store straight gas and mixed fuel in identical cans.
- Mixing Procedure: Always add half the gas, pour the measured oil, shake thoroughly for 15 seconds, add the rest of the gas, and shake again.
- Winter vs Summer Care: In winter logging, store fuel containers off cold concrete floors to prevent moisture condensation inside the can.
