When the NES launched in North America there were 18 games available. Compare that to 3 for the Japanese Famicom release in 1983 and only 5 games for the US release of the SNES in 1993. Please remember that I’m following the North American release schedule, so things can get a bit wonky at times. Especially since there isn’t an official record of the US release schedule that I can find that gets more specific than the month and year.
The titles to be found in this batch are as follows:
- 10-Yard Fight
- Baseball
- Clu Clu Land
- Donkey Kong Jr. Math
- Duck Hunt
- Excitebike
- Golf
- Gyromite
- Hogan’s Alley
- Ice Climber
- Kung Fu
- Mach Rider
- Pinball
- Stack-Up
- Super Mario Bros.
- Tennis
- Wild Gunman
- Wrecking Crew

Hey! I don’t know what part of the world you are from, but, as we would say over here, it’s hella good to see someone else pick up the chronogaming baton. Boy, going by US release dates is going to be tough. I don’t know why we can put a man on the moon, yet we can’t figure out what day Gauntlet was released. Have you actually compiled a list of all the US releases? I’m having to look at old Nintendo Powers for assistance.
I’ll put up a link on Chrontendo soon.
Yeah, that order is going to be a pain. I’m trying to figure out how I’m going to pull that off since Nintendo doesn’t seem to care if we know the US release dates.
Two solid resources I have found are http://www.retromags.com and the DVD complations of Marvel comics the company put out a while back. Using reviews from the former and ads from the latter should help extrapolate a window of a few months. Good luck!
